OUR FLEET
Our fleet at Virtual US Airways consists of a wide range of aircraft, from small regional jets to large long-haul aircraft, each chosen to provide our pilots with the most realistic and varied flying experience. Explore our fleet below to find specifications, operational roles, and simulation support for each aircraft type.
DeHavilland Dash 8 – Q100/Q300/Q400 Series
There are currently 66 Dash-8 aircraft in the Virtual US Airways Group fleet. The Dash 8 is a mid-sized regional aircraft which can hold between 50-68 passengers depending on the variant. It has a cruise of approx. 370 knots and a service ceiling of 25,000 feet. This light turboprop serves as the first step in flying in your virtual career here at VUSAIR.
ATR 42-600
The ATR is a regional airliner produced by the French aerospace company ATR. It is like the Dash 8 aircraft in its function as a regional turboprop airliner which specializes in short field operations. The aircraft has a capacity of 48 passengers, a cruising speed of 280 knots and a service ceiling of 25,000 feet. US Airways never operated the ATR series aircraft, but due to a lack of a Dash 8 model for MSFS users, we have incorporated it into VUSAIR Operations.
Embraer Regional Jet 145
The ERJ-145 is the first jet available to probationary first officers. This jet can hold 50 passengers with a cruise speed of 460 knots and a service ceiling of 37,000 feet.
Bombardier CRJ-200
The CRJ-200 is the backbone of VUSAIR regional carriers such as Air Wisconsin. This small jet can hold 50 passengers, cruise at 430 knots and cruise at 41,000 feet.
Bombardier CRJ-700
The CRJ-700 is the next evolution of the 200 variants of CRJ jets which served the US Airways Express Fleet. 68 currently serve in the VUSAIR fleet which has a capacity of 70 passengers. The CRJ-700 can cruise at 450 knots and reach a service ceiling of 41,000 feet.
Bombardier CRJ-900
The CRJ-900 aircraft flying as part of the US Airways Express fleet is the next step evolution following the 700 series. This mid-sized regional jet holds 86 passengers and cruises at 450 knots with a service ceiling of 41,000 feet.
Embraer Regional Jet 170/175
The Embraer Regional Jet 170-5 aircraft flying as part of the US Airways Express fleet allows Probationary members to conduct narrowbody flights before their next rank. This mid-sized regional jet holds 72-86 passengers depending on the configuration. The aircraft cruises at 481 knots with a service ceiling of 41,000 feet.
Embraer Regional Jet 190
The Embraer Regional Jet 190 aircraft flying as part of the US Airways Express fleet allows for a perfect transition for new first officers into the narrowbody family of aircraft. This mid-sized regional jet holds 106 passengers. The aircraft cruises at 481 knots with a service ceiling of 41,000 feet.
Airbus A319
Inherited from America West Airlines the A319 is the most prolific narrowbody jet in the US Airways Fleet and is the most identifiable aircraft in the blue and white livery. This medium range jet aircraft holds 124 passengers and cruises at 450 knots with a service ceiling of 39,000 feet.
Airbus A320
The most famous of the Airbus family, the A320 expanded on the A319 model. This aircraft signaled the transition from Boeing dominance to Airbus within the US Airways fleet. This short to mid-range jet holds 150 passengers and cruises at 430 knots with a service ceiling of 39,000 feet.
Airbus A321
The A321 is the NG version of the B737NG series for the Airbus family. A lengthened fuselage base, new engines and an additional fuel tank opened the door for the eventual NEO evolution of aircraft. The A321 holds 169 passengers and cruises at 450 knots with a service ceiling of 39,000 feet.
Boeing 737
Possibly the most successful family of aircraft ever created, the Boeing 737 was a holdover in the US Airways Fleet from its heritage when they flew under US Air and Piedmont Airlines. The 300 and 400 variants served in the US Airways fleet with dedication and to provide options to pilots, we have included the 700 and 800 variants into the fleet. The 737 holds 126-144 passengers depending upon the configuration. This jet cruises at 460 knots with a service ceiling of 37,000 feet.
Boeing 757
The Boeing 757 was one of the first narrowbody planes to undertake ETOPS operations. Proving versatile in long haul flights and in domestic operations, it can be found in many airlines, and a few found their way into the hands of US Airways. This mid to long-range jet holds 193 passengers and cruises at 458 knots with a service ceiling of 42,000 feet.
Boeing 767
Boeings second generation widebody jet, the 767 became an icon in US Airways Transatlantic operations. The 767 holds 203 passengers and cruises at 470 knots with a service ceiling of 40,000 feet.
Airbus A350
Before the merger with American Airlines, US Airways had placed an order for 20 Airbus A350-900s which would have supplemented their long-haul operations. These aircraft would have replaced the aging 767 fleet and possibly be used in expanded international services. The Virtual US Airways group has included the aircraft into our fleet with the corresponding route network to operate them.
Boeing 787
The Boeing 787 never saw service with US Airways, but because MSFS does not provide an A350 to its users we allow the Dreamliner to serve in the Virtual US Airways Group. Not to far from reality though as AI did mention transitioning to the B787 would have been an ideal course of action for the real US Airways had they remained in operation.
